Kelly Damphousse has been appointed Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for the 2013-14 academic year. Damphousse began his duties on August 19 following long-time CAS Dean Paul Bell’s resignation. Damphousse came to OU in 1997 as an assistant professor of sociology, having earned his Ph.D. in sociology from Texas A&M University in 1994. He has served as Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences since 2004 and received a prestigious Presidential Professorship in 2006. Damphousse is widely recognized for research on domestic terrorism and has long received funding from the Department of Homeland Security for his American Terrorism Study. Damphousse will continue teaching a mega-section of Introduction to Sociology for the Sociology Department. His innovative course has combined lectures and online assignments into what the University if calling a “blended” course, and receives rave reviews from students.
