Sociology Department donates $800 to S-CAP, Inc. XMAS party
S-CAP, Inc. (Second Chance Advocacy Program for Women, Inc.) is a re-entry program for women who have been incarcerated in Cleveland County. The program focuses on helping women reintegrate not only with the community but also with their families.
On December 4, 2014, the Circle Five women’s group hosted their annual XMAS party for the S-CAP women and their children. Twenty-one women and twenty-nine children attended the party. The Department of Sociology made the provision of presents to the children the department’s volunteer effort for 2014 and raised almost $800 for gifts. With this money, the department was able to buy each attendee a gift.
